Review Methodology
How a Somnora review or comparison is put together, and what its limits are.
Last updated September 1, 2026
1. Define the reader's situation
Each comparison starts from a sleeper: position, build, mattress, and the complaint that prompted the search. That defines which specifications matter before any product is considered.
2. Establish the category requirements
We describe what a pillow has to do in that situation — the loft band, the firmness range, the shape options — so that a reader can evaluate any product, including ones we do not cover.
3. Gather product information
- Official product pages, specification tables and dimension listings.
- Manufacturer support and FAQ documentation.
- Stated return, warranty and shipping terms.
- Publicly available customer feedback, read for recurring themes rather than counted.
4. Separate fact from claim
Anything the manufacturer asserts that we cannot verify is labelled a manufacturer claim. Anything a customer reports is labelled customer feedback. Anything we conclude is labelled editorial interpretation. Missing specifications are recorded as “Not clearly stated”.
5. Write the comparison
- Comparison tables list only information we can source.
- We do not invent columns to fill space, and we do not fill gaps with estimates.
- Products are described by what they suit, not ranked by a score.
- Commercial links appear after the information a reader needs, not before it.
Why there are no numeric scores
A score implies measurement. Without controlled testing, a number such as “8.4 for support” would be a presentation device rather than a finding. Until we can publish a transparent scoring methodology backed by actual testing, we will describe rather than score.
Why there is no aggregate rating schema
We do not add Review or AggregateRating structured data to pages that do not contain genuine, transparently sourced ratings. Search features are not a reason to publish data we cannot stand behind.
Updating
Reviews carry a review date. Product specifications, pricing and terms change without notice, so every product page tells readers to verify current details with the seller before ordering.
